Sexism in the rock music business? So, am I the only one who's noticed that there aren't many rock bands with girls in them recently? Personally, there's only five that I can think of off the top of my head that have/have had women in them: I Am Ghost with Kerith Telestai, Evanescence with Amy Lee, Paramore with Haley Williams, Lacuna Coil with Cristina Scabbia, and Eyes Set To Kill with Alexia and Anissa Rodriguez. There are many all-male bands that are extremely successful. I'm sure I don't even need to give examples of those. Just turn on your radios or pop in your favorite cd. I almost guarantee you that if you're a rock fan, your favorite band is probably only guys. But then again, that's just my opinion. Obviously, females are very talented artists, vocally and instrumentally. Just look at Alicia Keys and Madonna. But what's hindering them from succeeding in bands? Is it that guys don't want women to be in their groups, fearing problems that may be caused? Or is it that record labels don't see potential in most bands that have a girl in them? What do you think?

They probably think "Oh it's a female, she won't be able to handle the situations of being on tour." Or, "eh, she might want to quit when she breaks a nail." Males don't really have much faith in females when it comes to music. It's wrong.
I kind of want to dominate all men in creating the best band ever.
Anyone for Rock Band 2?!
Just kidding. But really, I'm tired of all the sexist males.
Shiny Toy Guns with Sisley something
Arch Enemy with Angela Grossgow or whatever
No Doubt with Gwen Stefani (used to)
Flyleaf with Lacey Mosley
The Hush Sound with Greta Salpeter or yeah
In This Moment with...someone but she's a girl
Hey Monday with someone
Kenotia with some girl
The Material with a girl
And that's all I could think of right now.
Just felt like listing some.
but i agree if you listen to most rock bands from the last decade there arent as many female lead or even females in the bands
automatic loveletter with juliette simms
otep with otep shamaya
bif naked (beth torbert)
emilie autumn
horrorpops with patricia day
there's a ton.
An Horse with Kate Cooper. (Not well known, and kind of more pop rock than just rock.)
Tegan & Sara with Tegan and Sara Quin.
Walls of Jericho with Candace Kucsulain
Kittie (the whole band)
The Veronicas with Jessica and Lisa Origliasso
Just a few more. I agree about music being a male-dominated industry as far as rock bands go, but there are some good female rockers out there.
Pop, of course there are alot.
Rock, a few but not so much.
Metal, not so many but a band like Arch Enemy proves how hard girls can rock.
